BUILT GREEN®
What is a BUILT GREEN® home?
A BUILT GREEN® home is built using sustainable practices and certified by a third party. It goes beyond energy efficiency, focusing on materials, air quality, ventilation, waste management, water conservation, and overall wellness.
Before certification, an Energy Advisor tests the home's energy performance and air tightness using the Natural Resources Canada EnerGuide Rating System. This certification provides both an EnerGuide and BUILT GREEN® label.
By minimizing environmental impact during construction and daily use, a BUILT GREEN® home helps create a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle for your family.
A healthier, more comfortable home
Better air tightness and ventilation reduce toxins and dust, easing strain on the respiratory and immune systems—especially beneficial for allergy sufferers.
Fewer drafts, cold spots, and more consistent temperatures throughout the home.
Enhanced insulation and air tightness also provide better soundproofing from outside noise.
BUILT GREEN® homes are built to last, with durable features like warp-resistant engineered lumber, 30-year shingles, and waterproofed foundation walls—helping homeowners save money over time.
Third-party certification verifies the authenticity of the home. Look for the EnerGuide and BUILT GREEN® labels on the furnace or electrical panel. These labels signify verification of both the home’s energy efficiency and green features.
